Community bus pilot for the Tenterden Area

Kent County Council (KCC) has approved a 12-month community bus pilot for the Tenterden area.

This new service will replace and improve the Hams Travel 293/294* service KCC currently funds. Instead of only running a couple of days a week, the pilot will provide daily travel to Tenterden from:

  • Rolvenden
  • Rolvenden Layne
  • Stone-in-Oxney
  • Appledore
  • Leigh Green
  • Shrubcote
  • Iden Green
  • Benenden
  • Goddards Green
  • Castletons Oak
  • Shirkoak Park
  • Rare Breeds Centre

The service will be run by Tenterden Social Hub using a 16-seat wheelchair accessible mini-bus. It will run to a timetable and concessionary travel passes will still be accepted.

Finalised timetables, route and fares are due be available in May.

The changes are due to take place in June. It is hoped that by serving more villages and increasing frequency, more people will travel on the service and it will become more sustainable. After a year KCC will decide if the changes will be made permanently.

*The Hams Travel 293 Tunbridge Wells – Tenterden will be unaffected by the changes.
